Gilbert, AZ - Sylvia Lee Weltz (Taylor), age 87, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 surrounded by family. She was born in 1938 in Pocatello, Idaho, to her parents, Gladys and Paul.
Sylvia lived much of her life in California before making Arizona her final residence. She was married to the love of her life, Francis Evans Weltz (Frank), for 59 years before his passing. They were married when she was 16 and had four boys in five years. Their marriage was a lasting example of devotion, partnership, and deep family commitment.
Above all else, Sylvia loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her four sons—Skip, Keith, Craig, and Curt—and her greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved. She was a proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense happiness.
She is survived by her sisters Pat Desha and Jackie Fitch; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Sylvia enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially fishing, baking, and crocheting clothing items for her grand babies. Her handmade creations were gifts of love that will continue to be treasured by her family.
Sylvia will be remembered for her gentle heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her.
