Apache Junction, Arizona - Thomas (Tommy) Michael Eckert II

Tommy Eckert passed away unexpectedly at his home in Apache Junction, Arizona on July 17, 2026 following a brief illness.

Tommy was born to Thomas Michael Eckert and Carolyn Marie (Hakola) Eckert on March 12, 1967 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Tommy attended Dugway High School in Utah and Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was active in cross country track and the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in History and Political Science.

Tommy enjoyed working as a land surveyor in numerous oil fields across the country. He enthusiastically shared his knowledge of Biblical truths and supported conservative political candidates whose ideals matched his own.

He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Lake Huron in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Tommy is survived by his mother; children, David Joshua Eckert and Bethany Joy Eckert of Oldsmar, Florida; a sister, Tracy Michelle (William) Brinkmeier of Gilbert, Arizona and nephew, Matthew Elias Brinkmeier of Gilbert, Arizona, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Rudolph Elias Hakola and Eva Dagmar (Koivisto) Hakola of Rudyard, Michigan, and Harvey Hubert Eckert and Ruth Marie (Smith) Eckert of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

At his request, no service will be held. His final resting place will be in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula. Contributions in memory of Tommy may be made to Samaritan's Purse or a Christian charity of your choice.
